Live the Rock Dream for Two Weeks!! Summer Rock Boot Camp is a two week intensive version of our Playground Rock Academy where you join a band, rehearse daily with one of our professional rock coaches, learn a lot and most importantly HAVE FUN!! At the end of ‘boot camp’ you will have learned several new songs, music theory, rock history, and basic performance skills. Playground Battle of the Bands Once we’ve completed the four sessions of Summer Rock, we’ll host a ‘Battle of the Bands’ for all the summer groups to compete for bragging rights, a Best Band trophy and a great prize package. Get Started THIS SUMMER! – Keep Rockin’ this Fall! Playground Rock will continue by offering 9-week sessions throughout the school year so you can continue your Rock and Roll education. As you and your band progress, we’ll get you playing in other venues all over the Emerald Coast area. Q&A:What happens each day? Classes will cover song writing, instrumental techniques, rehearsal techniques, and performance techniques. Campers will also receive instruction in recording basics and band management. Classes are three hours each day.
What are the ages? Campers must be at least 8 years old and up to 17 years old. Campers will be grouped by age and skill level.
Can students register as a band? Yes! In fact, we offer a 10% discount to groups of five or more. Please call to discuss details.
Are all the sessions the same? The format will be the same for each session, but the actual content will be tailored to your bands needs and experience level.
What is the Playground Battle of the Bands? Each band will be invited to return at the end of the summer to play their best song in our final Summer Showcase. .
Can Singers attend Boot Camp or do you have to play an instrument? YES! Each band needs at least one vocalist.
What instruments are included? Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals are the standard instruments but, horns
Do I bring my own instrument? Playground Rock provides the amps, keyboards, drums and sound system and lights. Students should bring their own guitars and basses. If you prefer your own mic, effects, keyboard and/or amp, feel free to bring them. We sell the gear you need.
Does my child have to be proficient to participate? We accept students at the advanced beginner level and up, but basic proficiency is required.
Who is the staff? Shaun Williamson, formerly of The Atlanta Rhythm Section will be our lead instructor. Shaun will also be joined by several of our extremely talented and experienced staff.
What is the cost? The tuition for each two week session is $300.00 per student. Tuition is non-refundable, but rescheduling to another session is available on a case by case basis.
Where is the camp located? Playground Music School at Playground Music Center in Fort Walton Our concerts will be held on the Uptown Station park outdoor stage.
